The 2013 ITU (International Triathlon Union) Duathlon World Championships will be taking place August 8-10, 2013 in Ottawa. Qualified men and women from 40 countries will be competing in the Elite U23, Elite Junior Age Group (18-70+) and Paraduathlon races for the World Championships, as a part of the World Games. The Duathlon will start at the Canadian War Museum and move down the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway along the Ottawa River.
In addition to the World Championship Race, Ottawa Tourism and TrojanOne Ltd. have created an open sprint distance Duathlon race and an open 5km run for the general public. The open races will be taking place on August 10. Open Duathlon and 5km race participants can register before July 15, 2013 to receive a discounted rate of $99 for the Open Duathlon and $55 for the 5km run; register at https://secure.eventsonline.ca/events/ottawa_duathlon.
