- The
Museum has a full-scale replica of the Silver Dart which in 1909 made
the first motorized airplane flight in Canada.
- Much
of Canada's north is accessible only by bush planes like the Beaver
and the Twin Otter. In the Museum, you can see "La Vigilance", a replica
of Canada's first bush plane which was miraculously found after crashing
in a small lake in Ontario now known as Foss Lake.
- In
the 1950's, Avro Canada designed a very advanced jet fighter, the
Avro Arrow, that could exceed 2000 kph. After the government cancelled
the program, the aircraft under construction were destroyed except
for one nose section, two wing tips and a few Orenda Iroquois engines,
one of which you can see at the Museum.
