Aiming to encourage analytical thinking about the social, political, and economic world, The Octopus Bookstore specializes in books with a critical, social justice focus. Books on economics, class, gender, race, national politics, and international affairs are well-represented, as well as both Canadian and International fiction. Many of the books they regularly carry are those used by both Ottawa universities for their social and political curriculum. In addition to books, Octopus also carries politically aware gift items, such as the New Internationalist product line.
