The Unicorn Theatre of The University of Ottawa Department of Theatre presents
BLOOD RELATIONS
By Sharon Pollock
Directed by Bronwyn Steinberg
Looking through the past for truth can be a dangerous matter.
Winner of the Governor General's Award, Blood Relations is a metatheatrical approach to the story of Lizzie Borden, who was accused and acquitted of her parents murder in Massachusetts, 1892. Miss Lizzie and her close friend relive the events leading up to the murders, removing the boundaries of time from 1892 to 1902.
Rideau Award Nominee (Outstanding Adaptation for Pirate Jenny`s Circus, Counterpoint Players 2009) Bronwyn Steinberg is an MFA candidate in Directing for the Theatre at the University of Ottawa. Previous credits as a director with the Unicorn Theatre include Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tell Me On A Sunday and George Bernard Shaw's The Dark Lady Of The Sonnets. Having recently finished a directing internship under Peter Hinton at the NAC, Bronwyn is looking forward to developing and directing a collective creation with her company, the Counterpoint Players, for the 2010 Ottawa Fringe Festival. This will be her second consecutive year directing for the Ottawa Fringe Festival.
The Unicorn Theatre's production of Blood Relations features a cast of both professional and student actors, with Michelle LeBlanc, Katelin Richards, Ashlee Beattie, Martin Glassford, Bill March, Kelly Rigole and Gavin Smith. The set by designer Ivo Valentik, costume design by Sarah Waghorn, sound design by Purna Bhattacharya and to complete the team, the lighting design will be a collaboration by students of Jon Lockhart's Technical Theatre II class (THE3152).
The University of Ottawa Department of Theatre invites you to experience the psychological thrill that is Sharon Pollock's Blood Relations from Tuesday, April 06 to Saturday, April 10. Showtime will be 8:00PM.
