Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest News Release
Bluesfest adds more star power to already stellar line-up
The Bacon Brothers, Hole added to the mix
April 27, 2010, Ottawa – In keeping with the ‘Bluesfest Goes Hollywood’ theme, the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest today announced the addition of Michael and Kevin Bacon’s band, The Bacon Brothers to the festival program. Also added to the mix is Hole—featuring Courtney Love.
As stated on their website, 2009 marks 14 years of the Bacon Brothers band’s existence, and any cynical preconceptions about well-known actors “dabbling” in music now can safely be discarded. The band has gigged relentlessly to build up a following, and their latest offering, New Year’s Day, represents their sixth LP release. As The New Yorker recently observed, “Hollywood hangs like an albatross around the neck of any movie star turned musician, but this duo shakes off the burden of fame with sharply executed rock that has a blue-collar, rootsy edge.”
As for Hole, what more needs to be said. Fronted by Courtney Love, who is superbly backed by guitarist Micko Larkin, Shawn Dailey on bass and drummer Stuart Fisher, this show promises to be a ‘don’t-miss performance’. Last month, the first Hole single in ten years, and first from the album Nobody's Daughter was released. Skinny Little Bitch was the most added song on alternative radio and the second most added song on active rock in early March in the United States, debuting at #32 on Billboard's Alternative Singles Chart.
“I believe this is an excellent treat for our existing and eventual passport holders,” says Bluesfest executive and artistic director, Mark Monahan. “It was great news to hear these high-end acts were available.
“The feedback about the program thus far has been phenomenal and adding these additional pieces to the puzzle reinforces the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest as one of the pre-eminent music festivals in North America,” added Monahan.
Indeed, Ottawa Bluesfest fans of all stripes should be delighted that an already exciting line-up, just got better with the addition of The Bacon Brothers, as well as Hole. Tickets for any one of these shows or 12-day festival passports are available on-line or at all Bluesfest ticket outlets. See www.ottawabluesfest.ca for complete details.
