CHEO invites you to nominate someone for the 2011 Edition of Let’s Keep Kids Out of Hospital Awards.
The Let’s Keep Kids Out of Hospital Awards is a formal, annual program created to recognize initiatives that go ‘above and beyond’ in addressing one of the root causes and, in doing so, raise awareness and inspire others.”
CHEO will recognize and reward individuals and organizations who contribute meaningfully to the community and help make a difference in the lives of children and youth. There are four award categories: injury prevention, mental health, family poverty and healthy active living. Each represents an important health issue faced by the children and youth in CHEO’s community.
Award recipients will receive a monetary reward of $500 slated for re-investment into their program. Winners may be individuals, organizations or corporations. Examples of winners include a sports coach, a teacher, after-school program, a community group, advocacy lobbyists, health service providers, volunteer organizations, health or social service agencies, or a company with a special volunteer or corporate citizenship program targeted specifically at children’s health and wellness.
CHEO believes that preventing illness and injury, thus avoiding the need for treatment, is the best prescription for the health and well-being of children and youth. This approach is the foundation for all CHEO advocacy work, with particular emphasis on four root causes that often lead to childhood illness and hospitalization: injury, obesity, mental health and family poverty.
Visit the Let’s Keep Kids Out of Hospital section on the CHEO Website and submit your application! Application deadline is June 13, 2011
