The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario is a 150 bed, paediatric/quaternary care teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Ottawa. As such, the Hospital serves a broad geographic area, including Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. We also provide certain specialized paediatric services beyond this catchment area to children and youth from Baffin Island, Newfoundland and other provinces. In addition to being the major regional referral centre for tertiary and quaternary care, CHEO provides significant secondary care services, and is a national collaborator in the complex arena of child and youth services. Founded in 1974, the hospital treats over 6,000 inpatients annually, and its outpatient program, ambulatory clinics and emergency services handle close to 250,000 patient visits each year.

The Civic Campus provides a full range of medical and surgical services with particular specialties in cardiac care and research, neurosciences, trauma, critical care, reproductive technology, women's breast health, geriatrics, hormone growth and development.  Through its Loeb Health Research Institute, the Civic Campus has developed one of Canada's leading medical research programs, including a clinical epidemiology unit.

The General Campus offers a complete range of health services to the adult and newborn populations of Ottawa-Carleton and eastern Ontario on an in-patient and out-patient basis.  It is a regional referral centre for high risk pregnancies, home dialysis, haemophilia, AIDS patients and drug information.  Areas of special concentration include bone and joint, perinatology, ophthalmology, transplantation, nephrology, oncology  and AIDS.

The Riverside Campus focuses exclusively on ambulatory care.  The Urgent Care Centre is open seven days a week from 7:100 AM until 10:00 PM.  The Eye Care Centre, born out of the out-patient ophthalmology programs at the former Ottawa Grace Hospital and Civic Hospital, opened in January 2000 and expect to do over 9,000 surgical procedures annually.  It is the largest cataract program in Canada.  The Riverside will offer the complete range of day-surgery services, dialysis, women's health services, endoscopy and rehabilitation services when it is complete within the next 12-18 months.
