Kingston,
the first capital of Upper Canada, has a winning combination of
historic architecture, waterfront trails, extensive boutique shopping,
many museums and live theatre. Cycling is popular on nearby Wolfe
Island and on country roads between Kingston and Gananoque. Lake Ontario
and the St. Lawrence River offer some of the best fresh water sailing
in the world and submerged wrecks are popular with scuba divers. During
summer, day cruises and romantic dinner cruises sail from Kingston harbour
daily into the magnificent 1000
Islands.
