Incorporated in 1887, BYC is one of the oldest yacht clubs in Canada, and with close to 1200 members, one of the largest. The well-protected harbour accommodates 280 keelboats and dry sail facilities are provided for dinghy sailors. As well as our exceptional boating program, BYC also offers active tennis, youth and social programs. The clubhouse features the region's best view of the Ottawa River, fine dining and year round activities. The club was founded in 1979 under the auspices of the Corporation of The City of Nepean, Parks and Recreation Department. Lac Deschenes Sailing Club Kanata North Postal Outlet Box 72158 Kanata, ON K2K 2P4 Tel: (613) 828-4697 The Lac Deschenes Sailing Club was formed in 1967 to provide area dinghy and cat sailors a venue focused specifically on small boat sailing. A low cost volunteer organization, the club has a low-key cottage like atmosphere.Arguably the best site for sailing on this section of the river, the Lac Deschenes Sailing Club features beach launching for dry sailed dinghies and cats. Shirleys Bay provides excellent protection from the typically North West winds that come down the river, so setup and launching is convenient. Kanata Sailing Club P.O Box 72016 Kanata, ONT K2K 2P4 Tel: (613) 832-2762 The Kanata Sailing Club is a cooperative club that receives no financial support, other than the annual fees paid by our enthusiastic members. The Club currently owns 10 Albacores, 7 Lasers, and three Catamarans (1 Hobie 16's and two18). We also offer members the use of several sailboards. The use of these boats is FREE to all members. Members may bring their privately-owned boats when they join, and so we have a number of other types of boats at the Club, including several Fireballs. In order to keep everything running smoothly, members volunteer for tasks related to Club upkeep and function.
