Ward 20 Osgoode
In November of 2000, residents elected the first council of the newly amalgamated City of Ottawa. Local residents of Osgoode Ward chose Doug Thompson to represent them as one of the 22 council members of the new City of Ottawa. This large south-east rural ward encompasses several different communities and villages including Edwards, Greely, Enniskerry, Kenmore, Osgoode, Marionville, Marvelville, Metcalfe, and Vernon. Osgoode Ward is home to about 21,500 residents and a large variety of businesses and organizations.

Born in Lower Town and raised in Sandy Hill, where he continues to make his home, Georges Bedard has lived in the Rideau-Vanier ward all his life. Growing up in one of Ottawa's most diverse neighbourhoods sensitized Georges to the particularities and needs of others early on. It was in this highly charged environment, among like-minded friends and colleagues in the heart of Ottawa, that Georges' sense of civic responsibility was nurtured.

Jan Harder has been a Councillor for nine years -- first at the former City of Nepean and since the amalgamation of the new City of Ottawa in 2000.
But she has always been a community leader, a wife, mom and most recently a "nana."

Steve Desroches

Steve and his family are residents of the ward and their young son was born at the Queensway-Carleton hospital. Steve has also spent several years working in South Nepean. Fully bilingual, Steve is a graduate of the University of Ottawa and holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from Carleton University. For more than a decade, Steve has worked for several departments in the federal government and most recently in supporting Canada's hard-hit beef sector. He also managed a program designed to support small-and-medium sized enterprise.
