Simultaneous Radio Broadcast!
Don’t miss a special broadcast on the 150th anniversary
on CFRA 580 AM and RockDétente 94.9 FM, followed
by the soundtrack of the musical fireworks show The
Grand Finale. The musical compositions selected for
the fireworks show reflect themes related to Ottawa’s
150th anniversary as the capital. Some pieces evoke
the Victorian era, others have symbolic or historical
links to the time period or the region’s founding
communities, and others were written by composers from
the period.
Special 1857 Festivities at the
Canadian Museum of Civilization
Enjoy family activities, including Celtic music, dancing,
a noisemaker workshop and more! The museum is open from
5 pm to 9 pm and admission is free of charge, except
for the featured exhibit.
Come admire the fireworks from our suggested
viewing locations: Canadian Museum of Civilization and
Major’s Hill Park.
Closed to Vehicles and Pedestrians:
The Alexandra Bridge will be closed on December 31,
and will reopen at 1 am on January 1. Access to the
Ottawa Locks is also closed.

A Brilliant Extravaganza!
During the show, you’ll see more than 2,500 effects
— cakes, Roman candles, volcanoes and falls. Aerial
display shells range from 50 mm to 305 mm in diameter.
Shells of 305 mm are the largest permitted in Canada.
