-
The
CMCP collection has been developed through purchases, assignments and donations
along two complementary lines: the photograph as document; the photograph as
work of art. The variety and range of its collection make CMCP a unique
institution in this country. This unmatched body of work offers us a detailed
and panoramic view of Canada's modern history and culture, showing us both what
we look like and how we see our world.
- The CMCP collection spans from the early 1960s
to the present and includes over 160,000 photographic works, comprising
photographs, transparencies, negatives, books, filmstrips, audio-visual
presentations, mixed media works, assemblages and installation pieces, video
art and other types of art or information media based on still photography. The
CMCP continues to acquire the work of photographers currently living and
working in Canada.
- Many special activities are organized for
children, families and adults, such as CMCP Family Sundays, day camps, Meet the
Artist, guided tours with the curator, etc. Please see our website for complete
programming.
