Ottawa Stables, Lesson & Boardings

Whether you want to ride English or Western, you are young or old or you want to ride for recreation or as a competitor, there are a number of stables for every type of equestrian pursuit. Ottawa and surrounding area is home to an enormously dynamic horse industry with over 84 equestrian stables. Here are the types of instruction, services and facilities that Ottawa stables offer to the local equestrian (not every stable offers every service): riding instruction and coaching in English equitation, dressage, hunter/jumper, eventing and Western riding; driving; horse training; horse leasing; summer camp; boarding; horse breeding; show facility; and therapeutic riding. Check these stables out and find a stable that is perfect for you! Find the link to their websites for more in-depth information.

Philosophy – Every rider is an individual at Westar Farms and Jeff McKessock collaborates with each one to define what personal success means for them. It is this level of commitment that contributes to each competitor achieving their goals in a competitive training program. It is no wonder that Westar riders have such a reputation for excellence! No Westar rider enters a show ring until they are capable of a safe performance and personal success.

Dressage is the foundation of all training at Westar Farms from the beginners through to the national level competitors. This strong flatwork foundation helps build better skills over the jumps with all students progressing based on the principles of balance of horse and rider. Our competitive students today are Hunter, Equitation, and Jumper riders. Most either board their horse with us or lease one of the Westar horses.

Wynbrook Farm is a family operated riding school just outside of Vars, Ontario. It is a 20-minute drive east of Ottawa and south of Orleans on Dunning Road. Gary and Joanne Brooks have owned and operated this top-notch hunter barn since 1985. Many students have advanced to top placings in local, provincial and national competitions in both hunter and dressage
disciplines.

Wynbrook Farm was the first to recognize the need for rider levels and introduced eight progressive badge levels back in 1987. Annual badge days, usually in February, allow each student a private assessment where they are tested on certain skills for their level of riding. This approach has proven to be extremely successful in guaranteeing a solid education and a boost of
confidence.

Highly qualified coaches at Wynbrook Farm are nationally certified or current in the apprenticeship program and working towards their certification. The Wynbrook horses are amazing! We have over 14 well trained school horses and ponies to suit every level of rider. Whether you ride for fun or for serious competition goals, every staff member strives to enhance the positive atmosphere for learning that our students can expect as they discover the joy of horses and riding at Wynbrook Farm.

For more information about our riding school, horse boarding or children's summer day camp program, please contact Joanne Brooks at 613-835-3511 or email her at Joanne@wynbrook.com.
