Ottawa's Macdonald-Cartier International
Airport is serviced by 16 airlines on a daily basis. Direct
flights arrive from all major Canadian and many American cities.
Connections can also be made via Montreal and Toronto. As of
May 1, 1995, the "Open Skies" agreement has vastly increased
air access to Ottawa through such major hubs as Newark, New
York, Chicago, Detroit and Washington. As of autumn '98, Air
Canada offers a direct flight from Ottawa to La Guardia Airport
in New York City. The additional 300,000 seats per year now
link Ottawa to the United States and the world beyond.
The city boasts easy access to rail
and bus terminals, located only minutes from downtown, that
connect Ottawa to other cities in Canada and the U.S.
