A-Channel is the only independent television station in the Nation's Capital. In the fall of 2000, A-Channel opened its doors under its former name – The New RO - to a brand new state of the art broadcasting facility located in the heart of Ottawa's ByWard Market. This extraordinary facility, the CHUM Market Media Mall, is unique to Ottawa since it's the only broadcasting facility in the capital to also house four CHUM radio stations and implement Citytv's street level, storefront television concept. A series of two story windows run along the front of the building's façade. These large windows give residents and visitors daily viewing access to the art of live television broadcasting and any other events taking place in the CHUM Market Media Mall. A-Channel’s local newscasts are also unique in that they've eliminated the traditional studio or seated broadcasting setting.

A-Channel News at 6 and 11 nightly, provide an incomparable, interactive and informative source of local news, sports, weather and entertainment. A-Channel Morning, seen live weekday mornings from six to nine, is the only locally produced morning show in the region. Community oriented, interactive and one hundred percent local, if it's happening in the Capital or in the Valley, it will be seen on A-Channel Morning. Representing the local market is the priority of A-Channel. Supporting local functions, showcasing local talents and sponsoring local events are all indicative of the station's commitment to the community.
