Watson’s Mill is a unique 1860’s grist and flour mill located in Manotick, on the shores of the Rideau River. A working industrial heritage site in greater Ottawa, it has a remarkable history linked to local politics, the building of a country, and a tragic love story.
The Mill is open for visitation from 10am to 5pm daily, including weekends and holidays. Interpreters in 1860's period dress animate the Historic Dickinson Square and provide guided tours every day - donations are welcome. See the original milling equipment in full action on Sunday afternoons, and find out how flour is made.
Visitors can also see the Dickinson House, the home of the mill owners, and learn about Moss Kent Dickinson, who was the mayor of Ottawa during the construction of our parliament, as well as viewing a seasonal exhibition this month on Heritage Toys.
The Carriage Shed houses Manotick's biggest used book sale - drop in and discover this summer's reading treasures.
Plan to spend some time in the park-like grounds this summer, bring a picnic, feed the ducks, and simply let the years melt away as you step back to the 1860's. There's something for everyone in Historic Dickinson Square!
