The building blocks of design are the elements of design; each page that is constructed is comprised of these elements. And compiling strong web pages is based on your ability to grasp these basic elements.
For every design there are five basic elements:
Lines and Linework
Borders and rules are what lines are considered to be; they help to define areas around web page elements and can either be vertical or horizontal. The designs readability is heightened through its linework.
Shape
On most web pages shapes are either rectangular or square but this is not necessarily so, they are considered as any enclosed outlined part of a design. Within your design there are images you can also make use of to create other shapes.
Texture
Texture is what gives a design its sense of surface and is all visual on web pages. However, to get more of an effect in your designs you can use natural or artificial textures.
Color
It isn’t compulsory to have color in every designs but it is an element that the majority of designers are keen on. Creating a design without any color and later adding little to develop the design is actually a tactical way of designing.
Direction Web designs are given a sense of motion through direction, which goes across the design in most cases. A strategically fashioned design can capture the eye of your viewer allowing them to see the design precisely how you want them to see it.
